Governor Rick Snyder took direct aim today (Thursday) at a plan hatched by fellow Republicans to divert millions of dollars of economic development funds to roads.
These were the governor’s strongest words yet against elements of a state House Republican roads plan. It would divert money from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation for roads. Governor Snyder says the discussion alone is creating a sense of uncertainty.
“To put it in perspective, every time something like that happens, we lose jobs, investment, and opportunity in the state of Michigan,” said Snyder.
The governor was speaking to an audience of business and political leaders from across the state. The governor prefers using higher fuel taxes and registration fees.
Hearings on the House roads plan are supposed to continue next week.
