The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality will simulate a spill on Enbridge’s oil pipeline under the Straits of Mackinac this Thursday (9/24).
Line Five has come under considerable scrutiny lately. Environmentalists said a spill in the Straits could do irreversible harm.
The DEQ is attempting to see how well they could respond in the event of a spill.
More than 300 people are expected to participate in the simulation.
The DEQ said since it’s Enbridge’s pipeline, they will be footing the bill for the simulation.
