A conference in Grand Traverse County will highlight Lake Michigan.
The Department of Environmental Quality is hosting more than 300 experts in the fields of climate change, invasive species and beach management.
Matt Preisser is a coordinator for the Michigan office of the Great Lakes.
“We’re going to be showcasing more than just the open water aspects, we’re really going to be highlighting some of the work occurring inland in the basin or in the watershed. aso for example, coastal planning, watershed management, community resiliency.”
Preisser said the conference will explore topics concerning Lake Michigan, and will also help networking between attendees.
“I’m really hoping that we come away with a more diverse network of individuals and organizations that work on Lake Michigan and the Great Lakes and that we can all work together a little bit more synergistically for the benefit of the lake.”
The conference is scheduled for October 28th through the 30th at the Grand Traverse Resort in Acme, near Traverse City.
The conference is open to the public. Follow this link to find more information on the conference, and register.
