Michigan officials are teaching the secret service, FBI and other national departments how to catch credit card skimmers.

Credit card skimmers are illegal devices that criminals install on gas station pumps to steal consumers credit card information.

Officials from the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development are at a national conference in California.

They are giving presentations on how they’ve worked with the police to catch skimmers at gas stations.

One of the goals for the conference is to teach inspectors how to spot the skimmers, before they do damage.

So far, the state department of agriculture and state police have found and removed skimmers from 30 gas pumps in Michigan.
