Hundreds of demonstrators marched on the state Capitol today (Thu.) to protest Governor Rick Snyder’s handling of the Flint water crisis.
As we hear from The Michigan Public Radio Network’s Rick Pluta, many called on him to resign.
“Hey hey! Ho ho! Governor Snyder’s got to go!”
A line of demonstrators marched two by two and chanted on the snow-lined walkway up to the Capitol.
Protestor Rusty Allen carried a sign:
“It says ‘Recall Snyder,’ ‘Jail Him.’”
The protesters also went inside, chanted, and filled a floor surrounding the Capitol rotunda before leaving to march across the street to the building that houses the governor’s office.
Demonstrators said the state should be offering more emergency assistance to the city after a mistake by the state caused lead to leach into the drinking water. The governor has declared a state of emergency and called up the National Guard.
