Pew Analysis: Michigan Emergency Manager Law needs to be reworked

Capital_Building_Lansing (2)The Pew Charitable Trusts has released an analysis recommending a re-evaluation of Michigan’s Emergency Manager Law.

Mary Murphy is with the Pew Charitable Trusts. She says Michigan’s Emergency Manager Law doesn’t facilitate communication between state and local governments.

“As this analysis that Pew just released highlights the intervention law in Michigan is particularly aggressive and does allow a particular amount of latitude to the Emergency Manager.”

Murphy says Pew’s recommendation is that the law be reworked to give local governments more control.
