Lowest summer gas prices since 2004

file0001113797526The national gas price average is two-dollars and thirty -six-cents a gallon. That’s almost forty cents less than what we were paying a year ago.

Gregg Laskoski is a Senior Petroleum analyst with Gasbuddy.com. He says prices will stay slightly higher in Michigan.

“In Michigan we have state wide average at $2.57 and even thought that has increased steadily over the past month. It’s 37 cents higher than where it was month ago. We don’t expect that the statewide average is going to climb exceedingly higher, you know up to say more than 3-dollars a gallon.”

Laskoski said he expects prices will gradually increase at some point in the next few months. Meanwhile, tourism officials are optimistic that if prices stay lower, more people will travel this summer.
