A 25,000 dollar grant was given to the Lake Huron Discovery Tour.

Tour participants drive 200 miles from Standish to Mackinaw along the Lake Huron shoreline.

The grant money will be used to improve tour education on Native American history.

Katie Wolf is the Marketing Communications Director for the Community Foundation for northeast Michigan.

“The Michigan Humanities Council had 68 applications for the grants, we are one of I think 28 that received a grant and we received the full amount that we requested so we feel very fortunate.”

Wolf says the tour was the only entity in northeast Michigan to receive a grant.

The second annual Lake Huron Discovery Tour is scheduled for October.
