$1.2 million grant will help in efforts to increase access to care for children with epilepsy in Michigan

file000894312228Michigan is providing one (point) two million dollars to improve access to specialized pediatric epilepsy services.

Jennifer Eisner is with the state Department of Health and Human Services.

“We know that roughly 25% of Michigan’s youth resides in rural areas, and more than 13,000 Michigan children have active epilepsy so we know there is a population of young children out there and rural areas who need additional services.”

Eisner says over the next three years, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services will use the money for training and education, technology to support families, and outreach programs.

The grant money is being provided by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
