The Council will award $650,000 in grants through the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services for programming increasing support for persons with disability.
Dr. Yasmina Bouraoui is the Deputy Director of the Michigan Developmental Disabilities Council.
She said the projects will focus on self determination and leadership development.
“We’re looking for an organization that can help us address the issues around the consistency, access and availability of tools that support people with developmental disabilities to have self determination and this is how they can control their services and live self directed self determined lives.”
Bouraoui said one of the goals of the programs is to include people with disabilities and allow them to achieve full rights of integration within communities.
The council will accept applications through November 15.
