An informational meeting is planned after a cow tests positive for bovine tuberculosis

799Officials say one cow at a Huron county farm tested positive for bovine TB during a routine inspection.

Jennifer Holton is the Director of Communications for the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.

She said whenever there is a new case of bovine TB officials schedule an informational discussion for the community.

“We allow people to ask questions of veterinary staff to talk about what are gonna be the next steps? What this might need for them as farmer? What additional steps they should be taking to mitigate any potential risks or exposure to bovine TB to their herd.”

Holton said farmers within a three mile radius of the affected farm now have six months to complete bovine TB testing to make sure other cattle are not affected.
