Christie Bayus is a Program Manager with the Michigan DNR. She says the money is intended for recreation projects and improvements at park facilities.
“Typical projects are going to be new playgrounds that are going to increase ADA and accessibility, boat launches, things along those lines.”
Bayus says the grant funding came from two sources, the sale of state recreation passports and from the National Park Service.
A full list if the counties and the amount they received is on the DNR website.
