A federal judge in Detroit says customs agents can’t block green card holders from entering the US.

The White House has clarified that President Trump’s ban on travel from seven mostly Muslim countries does not apply to legal permanent residents.

Rula Aoun is the director of the Arab American Civil Rights League, which filed the lawsuit. She says the court order ensures there’s no confusion, and that the president can’t change his mind.

“So I think this puts that issue to bed once and for all that green card holders are permitted to return to the United States.”

Aoun says the next step is to get the judge to expand the order to include relatives of US citizens and permanent residents with family visas. A hearing is scheduled for a week from Monday.
