State grant leads to new jobs in the thumb

file000519270798A Michigan based auto parts company plans to hire more than 180 new employees in the Thumb.

Huron Incorporated today (Tuesday) received a one (point) four million dollar state grant to expand its factory and its workforce in Sanilac county.

Jerry Solar is the President and CEO of the company. He says the grant will allow the company to expand facilities from 160 thousand square feet to 200 thousand square feet.

“This’ll create enough space to install work for about 181 new employees over the next three years.”

Solar says the grant incentive means Huron Inc will invest nearly 13-million dollars in Sanilac County rather than in competing sites in Ohio, Kentucky and Pennsylvania.
