Consumer Advisory issued for Pepsi products

PepsiThe Michigan Department of Agriculture has issued a consumer advisory for certain lots of Pepsi. State Officials said some plastic bottles of the soft drink have been found to contain small flecks of metal.

Investigators said the flecks of iron and chromium came from an equipment malfunction during bottling. No injuries or illnesses have been reported, but there is concern that larger flecks could have formed when the equipment failed.

This consumer advisory is for 16.9 ounce bottles of Pepsi which were distributed in Michigan with the product lot codes HC022373 and HC022473.

Note, the advisory only applies to 16.9 ounce plastic bottles of Pepsi – it does not apply to Diet Pepsi, Pepsi Zero Sugar, or any other Pepsi flavor variation, or package size.

Anyone who purchased Pepsi from the affected lots should return it to the place of purchase to receive a refund.
