CMU expects more than 1,000 participants for Destination Imagination

More than 1,000 K-12 students are heading to Central Michigan University this weekend for a statewide competition called “Destination Imagination.”

Teams of students will collaborate to solve challenges in sciences, arts, technology and community service.

Brittany Cornwell is the Assistant Director with Events and Conference Services at CMU, and she said it’s a quick paced competition.

“I think it’s really important for these students to think critically, and I think this competition is exactly what allows them to do that because they don’t get any of the information beforehand,” she said. “They really have to think on their feet because they only have a certain amount of time to perform.”

Cornwell said since the competition is at CMU, participating students will get a real feel for college life. She said the atmosphere really caters to the students who are thinking about college.
