Residents in one community will be giving up a Saturday morning to help clean up their city.
Boyne City is hosting its annual Buff Up Boyne event on May 3. Each year the city asks residents to come together for a community-wide spring cleaning.
Volunteers will sweep, pick up trash and rake up leaves and debris around the city.
Hugh Cocklin, the Main street Director in Boyne City, said this is an opportunity to clean up the city in areas the Department of Public Works can’t get to.
“ This gives the community residents an opportunity to come help and really go above and beyond of what you normally expect. An it’s a great community service opportunity, it’s a great way for the community to come together and take care of itself, and for people to kinda literally roll up their sleeves, put gloves on and yeah know really making their town look good. “
On average, Conklin said, the event attracts more than 100 people each year.
Anyone interested in participating in the Buff Up Boyne event on May 3, needs to bring their own rakes, shovels and brooms.
