A symposium is scheduled next month aimed at establishing communication between oil pipeline companies and residents of northern Michigan communities that the pipes run through.
The symposium is designed to help community members learn more about pipelines in Northern Michigan.
The event will have brief presentations on pipeline safety and spill response and it will offer a panel Q&A session.
Jennifer McKay is Policy Specialist for Tip of the Mitt Watershed Council.
She said, “We felt by hosting a symposium on pipelines in Northern Michigan we could improve awareness and understanding of pipeline safety and operation in Northern Michigan.”
The event is scheduled for Tuesday, June 24th at Petoskey high school’s auditorium from 6:30pm to 8:30pm.
Space is limited and the registration deadline is June 20th.
