CMU’s Health Professions ready to roll out mobile health care

Mobile-Health-CentralEarlier this year we told you about Central Michigan University’s plan to provide mobile health care to Michigan.

Now the college has unveiled it’s 39 foot long motor home turned doctors office. The mobile office will be ready to roll out this fall to serve local communities.

They’re calling the vehicle Mobile Health Central. It’s equipped with exam tables, and a soundproof booth for hearing testing, among other things.

Renee Castellon is Communications coordinator for the CMU College of Health Professions.

She said,”It is a vehicle that is going to be used by all the programs within our college. The goal is to try and service rural and underserved areas where there is gaps and access to care and find the needs of those communities and go out there and help serve those needs.”

Castellon said right now the college is working to assess health care needs in central Michigan.

She said the college is seeking an outreach coordinator that will schedule Mobile Central to travel to communities year round.
