It was Friday that current Dean Ernie Yoder is resigning to focus on personal matters after serving four years with CMU.

Sherry Knight, Associate Vice President of University Communications, said, “Dean Yoder was the founding dean of the College of Medicine and much has been accomplished under his leadership, he successfully launched America’s 137th college of medicine”

Adding that the new dean will continue efforts started by Yoder, “They’ll be working on that third and fourth year curriculum, the clinical rotations that students must have during that third and fourth year. They’ll be expanding partnerships with our medical partners in Saginaw and frankly across Michigan.”

Knight said a search committee will be formed within two weeks to find a new dean.

She said the new dean will continue the college’s next phase of planning clinical rotations and the third and fourth year curriculum.

Yoder’s last day will be June 30th. Until a replacement is found, Linda Perkowski will serve as interim dean.
