House bill aims to help foster children afford college

A bill creating a permanent college endowment fund for foster children was approved by the state House this week, and is now on it’s way to the Senate.

Kathy Lockhart is the coordinator for foster programs at Eagle Village in Osceola County.

She said young people in foster care are often excited when they start pursuing higher education, but they can easily become overwhelmed. Continue reading
