One CMU student is spending her summer interning at the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History in Washington, D.C.
The national Knowles Science Teaching Fellowship is an annual award presented to 32 teachers for furthering of science, technology, engineering and math, or STEM education.
And this year, one of the recipients is a spring graduate from Central Michigan University.
Central Michigan University and the state Department of Education’s are teaming up to encourage more high school students to major in the teaching field.

For 11 Central Michigan university students however, the holiday will be spent overseas volunteering at a historic concentration camp.

Since the world’s globalization, cultural awareness has become increasingly important. Central Michigan University hosted an event Tuesday focusing on cultural diversity and how studying abroad can provide a better experience for students on a global scale.
