Michigan’s ballot recount is delayed until at least next week

Plans to move ahead with a ballot recount in Michigan are on hold. The state Republican Party and President-elect Donald Trump’s campaign have filed an objection to the recount request by Green Party nominee Jill Stein. A state elections board meets tomorrow morning to consider the objection.

Anti-Trump protests at CMU is large, peaceful

In cities across the country protesters have gathered to show their opposition to president elect Donald Trump.

On the campus of Central Michigan University Tuesday roughly 300 students and faculty gathered to show solidarity with the national protests.

Challenge of getting “millennials” to vote

voted“Millennials.” Depending on who you ask, most agree the term is used to describe people born in the 1980s or 1990s, especially in the U.S. While a quick google search turns up hundreds of articles talking about the challenges of getting Millennials to vote, CMU Public Radio’s Sarah Adams discovered that this election has them singing a different tune.

Election officials are reporting high voter turnout this afternoon

Election officials across central and northern Michigan are reporting high voter turnout at the polls today.

Some officials said they have been seeing more voters than in the last midterm election.

They said a steady stream of people have been out casting ballots in places like Midland, Alpena and Grand Traverse Counties. Continue reading

Former President Bill Clinton was met with loud applause from a crowd of Democrats in Flint on Wednesday. He was joined on stage by Democratic nominee for governor Mark Schauer (left), Congressman Dan Kildee (Center), candidate for 95th state House district Vanessa Guerra (right), and nominee for U.S. Senate Gary Peters (not pictured).

Another Clinton was in Michigan on Wednesday urging Democrats to show up to the polls on November 4th. Last week it was former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. This time it was her husband rallying Democrats to try to get out the vote.
