Don’t just prepare for back to school – prepare for floods and other disasters


With Michigan’s weather it’s not uncommon to see flash flood warnings issued. September 30th is National Prepareathon Day, officials are using the day, and the lead up, to encourage families to create emergency plans.

Gov. Snyder suspends UP trip to survey Detroit flood damage

Gov0812-fotoGov. Rick Snyder briefly suspended a week-long trip to the Upper Peninsula Tuesday to come back and survey damage in and around Detroit due to massive floods.

Many freeways and major roads were closed in Metro Detroit after a record rainfall Monday – some sections of roads having been swept away in flood waters.
