The Genesee County prosecutor is asking judges to make sure two dozen felons sentenced as juveniles to life without parole don’t have a chance at freedom. That’s despite two US Supreme Court decisions that struck down juvenile lifer laws like Michigan’s.
More than a million dollars in grants have been awarded to clean up Michigan Brownfield sites.
300-thousand of that money has been earmarked to clean up a former GM facility in Flint.

The state’s health director says an outbreak of Legionnaire’s disease in Genesee County did not get the attention it deserved from his agency. He says it was partially due to the department’s focus on a different health threat that never materialized.
Police believe they have found the body of a nine-year-old boy who went missing last weekend in Genesee County, prompting a statewide Amber Alert.
9-year old Omarion Humphrey went missing on July 4th at the Lake Calis Recreation Area. Officials said he was severely autistic and unable to speak.
Hundreds of first responders and volunteers searched for Omarion following his disappearance… but those large scale searches were abandoned earlier this week.
Then today, a child’s body was found floating in the lake by security officers. His parents confirmed a short time later that it was Omarion. The investigation into his death continues.
