Poll: Majority of Michigan residents support recreational marijuana

pot53% of Michigan residents surveyed said they would vote yes if the legalization of recreational marijuana was on the November 2016 ballot.

That’s according to a poll conducted by the Michigan chapter of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws.

Maxwell Lorincz lives in Spring Lake near Lake Michigan with his wife and their six-year-old son. At least, they did live with their son, until a year and a half ago.

They lost custody of him after Lorincz was charged with a felony for possessing synthetic THC. He’s a card-carrying medical marijuana patient. But that hasn’t helped in his fight to get his son back.

So for now, the family gets unsupervised visits for a few hours every week. Continue reading

For the first time, college students are choosing marijuana over cigarettes

Cigarettes seem to be losing popularity among college students, while marijuana is gaining popularity.

That’s according to a study done by the University of Michigan.

The study says six percent of full-time college students used marijuana at least twenty times in a thirty day period. Making them daily, or near-daily users. Continue reading

State board says people with autism should be able to use medical marijuana

potA state board has approved adding autism to the list of conditions that can be treated with medical marijuana. The Michigan Medical Marihuana Review Panel voted 4-2 on Friday to make the recommendation.

The final decision will be made by Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs Director Mike Zimmer. Continue reading
