Over 700 acres of forest land was purchased by the Leelanau Conservancy last week for 4.1 million dollars. The land was the largest contiguous tract of privately owned land remaining in Leelanau County.

A new rule in all National Parks is banning electronic cigarettes in places where traditional cigarettes are already prohibited.

Construction of a non-motorized path at Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore is scheduled to this week.
The designation protects 32,500 acres of land from future development, while still allowing existing uses of the land to continue.
