Former Central Michigan University President Edward Jakubauskas has died. Jakubauskas served as CMU’s president from 1988 to 1992, when he retired to Fort Collins, Colorado.
Under his leadership, the Centralis scholarship program was introduced, designed to attract academically gifted students. Several initiatives were also introduced to improve minority student affairs.
The Combined Services and Engineering and Technology Buildings were also opened during his tenure.
Jakubauskas is survived by his four children, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was 83 years old.
