Midland recognized as one of eight ‘5-Star Cities’

The city of Midland was among eight Michigan Cities recognized with an eCity award that names them a 5-Star city.

The communities were recognized for their positive entrepreneurial environments by the University of Michigan- Dearborn’s Center for Innovation Research.

Linda Coughlin with Midland tomorrow said the variety of businesses and people in Midland helped them achieve this award for the fifth year in a row.

“The city of Midland really understands industry and technology,” she said, “businesses of all sizes and stages in their growth and the city supports startups and small businesses as well as larger corporations.”

Coughlin said Midland is proud to be recognized out of all the cities in Michigan.

“It’s really nice to be part of this award,” she said, “and for eCities research they surveyed over 100 communities from many counties in Michigan and it’s just really nice to see the award getting granted to Midland.”

The other cities recognized were Mt.Pleasant, Imlay City, Madison Heights, Sturgis, Sterling Heights, Meridian Township and Tecumseh.
