Since the world’s globalization, cultural awareness has become increasingly important. Central Michigan University hosted an event Tuesday focusing on cultural diversity and how studying abroad can provide a better experience for students on a global scale.
The event, Global Encounters, consisted of a forum of students that have studied abroad in the past and current international students studying at CMU.
The discussions provided insight for students on how globalization works and the importance of cultural awareness in today’s competing global markets.
Dr. David Jesuit, professor of political science at CMU, said “Some of the broader questions that we address focus on what are the potential benefits of studying abroad for students, and how important would it be to have some knowledge of different cultures ,different languages as students seek job opportunities.”
