Michigan Authors, Michigan Books is a monthly series on CMU Public Radio that showcases. Michigan writers, talking about their craft and latest publications.  These author presentations have been recorded at various venues around the state, including universities and public libraries. 


January 26th  -  Steve Miller & Andrea Billups - “A Slaying in the Suburbs: the Tara Grant Murder”, 
profiling the brutal murder of suburban Detroit area housewife, Tara Grant. 

February 23rd - Mardi Link - “When Evil Comes to Good Hart”, a book that follows the 1968 murder
of the Detroit Robison family in their summer home in Good Hart.

March 30th   - John Knott, chief editor of a compilation of essays, “Michigan: Our Land, Our Water, Our Heritage” by Keith Taylor, Elizabeth Kostova, and Allison Swan, among others; a publication that talks about steps being taken to protect Michigan’s natural beauty and the work of the Nature Conservancy.

April 27th  - Valerie van Heest, an underwater explorer who combines her passion for diving and documenting historic shipwrecks with her creative abilities to promote Michigan’s submerged maritime heritage. Her book is called  “ICEBOUND: The Adventures of Young George Sheldon and the SS Michigan”.

May 31st    - Michael Zadorian -“The Leisure Seeker”, a book about the escapades of an elderly couple’s fight with Alzheimer’s and dementia as they travel cross-country in an attempt to find meaning in their lives.

June 29th  - Patrick Livingston - “Summer Dreams: The Story of Bo-Lo Island”, a work that documents the history of the island near Detroit from it’s discovery by French explorers to the wealthy class who developed it as a famous summer resort.
