Saginaw County has received a grant for $354,000 from the Michigan State Housing Authority. The community development grant will go towards home repairs in the area.
The money will be divided between the townships of Buena Vista, Bridgeport and Chesaning. Up to $40,000 will be put into each single family home repaired. 16 houses are expected to receive the assistance.
James Espinoza is a community outreach specialist with the Michigan State Development Housing Authority.
“We’re extremely excited to see Saginaw getting these dollars.”
Espinoza says repairs will include fixing roofs, plumbing and electrical issues, as well as making homes more energy efficient.
This grant will last 24 months, ending in 2017. Experts say the projects will be completed before then.
