E-Cigs banned from National Parks

E Cigarettes Become Popular Alternative

A new rule in all National Parks is banning electronic cigarettes in places where traditional cigarettes are already prohibited.

That includes park buildings, beaches and campgrounds.

Phil Akers is the Head Ranger at Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. He said e-cigs have not really been a problem at the park.

“I personally have not seen any e-cigarette users around the headquarters and visitor centers here in Empire. But apparently our law enforcement staff occasionally do see people using them around our beaches and campgrounds.”

Akers said health concerns for park staff and visitors prompted the rule.
