A traveling photo gallery is hoping a picture is worth a thousand words, it’s showcasing pictures of older youth who are still waiting to be adopted

file0001120914721It’s called the Michigan Heart Gallery. It will display images of over 100 older youth in foster care who are still waiting to be adopted.

Katie Most is the adoption supervisor for Adoption Option Inc.in Midland.

She said it can be more difficult to place what are considered older kids. That includes children who are eight years and older and have been in foster care for a year or more.

“ A lot of times they do have more behavioral needs. The longer that a child is unmatched with a family maybe the more scared or hopeless they feel and that also gives them more opportunity to move to home to home to home.”

Most said adoption photo exhibits can be effective in finding homes for children and teens. The Michigan Heart Gallery is planning stops in Royal Oak, Lansing and Frankenmuth.
