The Genesee District Library has received a $14,000 grant to introduce middle schoolers to a classic book.
The Call of the Wild by Jack London was chosen by the library.
Eileen Button is with the Genesee District Library.
“Mostly 6th and 7th graders will be reading it. And they are going to with the Flint Youth Theater partnership as well, they’re going to get a theatrical interpretation in the classroom.”
Button said activities will begin once the school year starts.
“We’ll also have the books available in different forms in the library. In addition to other peripheral programs. Like I said we’re going to bring in sled dogs and a dog guru, a dog whisperer kind of guy, so we’re getting wild at the library and that’s our theme.”
The National Education Association awarded the grant.
