Johnson shows up for work a day after raid on home and office

policeState Senator Bert Johnson says he still does not know why he’s being investigated by state and federal authorities. Senator Johnson showed up to work a day after his home in Highland Park and his office in Lansing were raided by the Michigan State Police and the FBI. Johnson says he does not know specifically what they were looking for or why. “At this stage, it’s really just an investigation on my part as much as it may be on theirs as well.” The Detroit News reports Johnson’s former chief of staff has been served with a subpoena. Johnson says he does not believe he’s broken any laws. He also says he’s hiring a lawyer. Johnson has a history of financial troubles and unpaid bills. He also has a felony conviction from a robbery committed almost 25 a years ago.
