Central Michigan University raised the Peace Flag today to honor the 100th anniversary of the US’ entrance into World War One.
The Peace Flag was raised over Warriner Hall, CMU’s administrative building.
A quiet group of about 30 students and spectators gathered outside.
Students read quotes from activists such as Pauli Murray and Martin Luther King Jr.
“What is often called exceptional ability, is nothing more than persistent endeavour, so if you think you can’t do something, Pauli Murray thinks you can.”
“Now there’s a lot going on today in 2017, and it’s really easy to get discouraged when it feels like everything is out of our hands, particularly change progress and equality.”
An event speaker says the Peace Flag symbolizes freedom, and international justice.
