EPA Chicago office could be closed

SDRandCo (7)The Environmental Protection Agency’s region 5 office, which oversees five states including Michigan, could be closed according to a report from the Chicago Sun Times.


The report says the Trump Administration has plans to shut down the region 5 office, which is based in Chicago, and consolidate it with an office in Kansas City.

The region 5 office oversees Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois, and Indiana as well as the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative.

Democratic Congressman Dan Kildee said in a release that if the news was true it would quote “jeopardize federal resources to help Flint recover from the water crisis and protect the Great Lakes from harm.”
