Winter is here, and DNR officials said a new winter trail is now available for people to use in northern Michigan.
Officials said they will be opening a new VASA pathway that has bicyclists in mind. They said they are holding a public meeting Nov. 20 to announce VASA trail changes.
A new bike trail is expected to debut next fall in central Michigan.
Officials say the proposed path would extend from Clare to Alma and connect two existing trails: the Pere Marquette and Fred Meijer Heartland trails.
The path is proposed to run more than 40 miles through Clare, Isabella and Gratiot Counties. It would largely run parallel to US-127.
