The state is asking for a study on the reliability of the state’s electric grid

This week, the state asked for an electric grid reliability study to test the generating capacity and reserve capacity in Michigan.

The Midcontinent Independent System Operator, or MISO would conduct the study. They are the electric transmission operator for much of the state.

As the temperatures drop, energy prices are climbing, and in the U.P., they’re poised to take a big jump next week.

It all stems from a disagreement over supply and demand, or more specifically, who should supply the demand.
